Two dimensional drawings have limits. But limits make things special. Impossible proximities, relationships and realities are born from restriction. In this way familiar form and common objects can mingle in unfamiliar ways. In 2018 Doug began an illustrative series called Unlikely Architecture. An assembly of paraline images drafted in CAD and finished in Illustrator. The series marries the reality of today’s endless digitally enhanced possibilities with two dimensional drawing space. It asks what buildings might look like if some degree of reality or function were removed. The following are sample images from this exciting series.
